Poem Phone

Introducing the Poem Phone, inspired by John Giorno’s 1968 Dial-a-Poem project, with technology from wonderfoon

Fall into the magical world of spoken word poetry, transmitted through our vintage rotary phone.

Simply dial a number and hear a love poem, read by the poet.

The Poem Phone was developed by The Salons, for Poetry Sydney’s Vessels of Love 2024: love in transmission.

The Poem Phone has featured spoken word recordings by our love in transmission poets —

The Poem Phone made its debut in the bookstacks of Gleebooks for Valentine’s Day week February 2024. Then it came out to play at the Knox St Bar, Chippendale, launching the exhibition program developed by partners Poetry Sydney and Knox St Bar. The curated monthly program continues to present artists and poets through its very own Poem Phone and street window Poetry Gallery.
