A poetry of art workshop

  • Chrissie Cotter Gallery 31a Pidcock Street Camperdown, NSW, 2050 Australia (map)

with Erin Shiel

As part of our love lines program, The Salons is excited to present this contemplative, ekphrastic writing workshop with facilitator and poet Erin Shiel.

Using the exhibits of the love lines exhibition as a springboard, workshop participants are invited to try four different ways to respond to art with poetry.

Participants might choose to respond to one of the artworks in the exhibition, or their own personal choice of artwork.

Writing exercises in relation to the symbolic devices of the artworks, the artist’s creative process, participants’ own life experiences or imagined narratives or echoes of the visual appearance of the artworks could be used as a starting point for a poem.

These exercises can be used for beginner poets or those more experienced poets looking for a fresh angle on ekphrastic practice.

Suitable for ages 16+

Tickets include afternoon tea refreshments.
