living in Metropolis
we have so much
look at us go, what’s the rush?

never seen so many people
living in one place
star stuff makes us and we take up space
so who do we think we are

and I know I take a lot for granted
but I don’t even know what the plan is
will we ever learn?
what’s the use in trying?

I’m getting cynical I must confess
but I had to tell you had to get it off my chest
and my life is getting clinical, I must profess
my life’s a swimming pool and I been doing laps
and I’m thinking
if it’s all in my head why can’t I just pretend
that I have it all under wraps

notions of the spiritual can quickly get obsessed
psychology is often cold and clinical at best now
this isn’t alchemy, no perfect symmetry
so come and step into the mystic with me
so we can see what’s really there
our history is crystallised
